Birmingham Promise Initiative

Starting this year, every graduating senior at Birmingham City Schools has an opportunity to get financial help to go to college. If you are a senior who has been enrolled in Birmingham City Schools since the start of this school year, you can apply for a Birmingham Promise scholarship. Birmingham Promise scholarships can be used to help pay tuition and mandatory fees at any public two-year or four-year college in Alabama. Some colleges have grade requirements that students will have to meet in order to attend. But Birmingham Promise does not have grade requirements, and Alabama’s two-year colleges have open admission policies. That means that students whose grades are an issue still have an opportunity to gain more education and develop marketable skills.

Whether the destination is a university or a community college, Birmingham Promise clears financial hurdles so students can pursue their goals and succeed in the future. To take advantage of this great opportunity, go to BirminghamPromise.org If you are a Birmingham City School senior, you should be acting now.
