Department of Capital Projects

The Department of Capital Projects plays a critical role in the development and enhancement of the City’s infrastructure and public facilities. We are charged with the comprehensive planning, coordination, and management of capital construction projects that are funded and executed by the City of Birmingham. Operating in strict compliance with Alabama Code Title 39 – Public Works, our responsibilities span the entire project lifecycle, starting from initial concepts and design development, through permitting and detailed cost estimation, to competitive bidding, construction execution, and any necessary facility alterations or renovations.
