On September 6, 2014, Equal Access Birmingham (EAB) is planning its inaugural Heart + Sole 5K/Fun Run to support the operations of EAB while promoting health and wellness in the Birmingham community. EAB is a University of Alabama School of Medicine student-run free clinic for the underserved and uninsured population in Birmingham. Medical, pharmacy, and other health professional students staff the clinic on Sundays from 1:00 – 5:00 pm to see patients who otherwise would do without any health care. Our goal is to recruit upwards of 500 participants to run/walk in the race, and we need your help!
The Heart + Sole 5K/Fun Run is a family friendly event open to participants of all ages. The Fun Run will begin at 7:30 am for children ages 3-8. The 5K will begin at 8:00 am at the UAB Campus Green. All proceeds will be used to support the operations of EAB, which will impact today and impact tomorrow through EAB’s current-use support fund and the EAB endowed support fund.
Join us for the EAB Health Fair after the race! We will have a variety of students and organizations providing healthcare information and screenings on the UAB Campus Green. This is a great opportunity to meet students, faculty, and physicians in the Birmingham community while learning about your health. We look forward to seeing you at the start line!
