Birmingham Can Code

Birmingham Can Code is a new initiative led by the City of Birmingham, in conjunction with Birmingham City Schools and Lawson State Community College. Through Apple’s Everyone Can Code Curriculum, Lawson State will offer four, free week-long boot camps that will cover everything from helping students explore basic coding concepts to building fully functional apps. This exciting new initiative will teach students key skills that are needed to be successful in the new economy.  Dates and registration details are listed below.

Summer Boot Camp Dates

High School Boot Camp 1 – June 18 – June 21

Middle School Boot Camp 1 – June 25- June 28

High School Boot Camp 2 – July 9 -July 12

Middle School Boot Camp 2 – July 16 – July 19

 

All camps will be held from

 9:00 am- 2:00 pm

ACATT Building, 1st Floor Lab (No. 3 on Lawson State Campus Map)

9:00 am – 2:00 pm

Cost

Free to any Birmingham City Schools middle or high school student

Registration Details

All interested students should complete

the online enrichment form

Space is limited –  100 spots

25 available spots per camp

Further Details

Free shuttle transportation to and from camps will be provided. Pick-up/drop-off locations will be announced soon

Devices will be provided during the camp. Students do not need to bring laptops/iPads with them

Lunch will be provided by Lawson State Community College
