Have you tried Birmingham On-Demand, powered by Via?

The city’s new on-demand public transit network launched earlier this month to provide affordable, shared ride service for residents and commuters in Birmingham.

The six-month pilot program focuses on increasing and improving connections for work, education, entertainment venues, as well as health, government and daily services in the city for an affordable, flat fee of $1.50.

Since Birmingham On-Demand’s December 3 launch:

  • The average wait time for a ride has been less than eight minutes.
  • The average ride distance is 2.2 miles.
  • On a scale of 0 – 5, the average rider rating is 4.89.

Birmingham On-Demand is a partnership between the City of Birmingham and Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham to provide service through Via, the leader in on-demand public mobility.

You can book rides through the Via app (available on iOS and Android) or by phone 205-236-0768 to hail a shuttle.

The on-demand transit network currently spans 7-square-miles in Birmingham.

Birmingham On-Demand operates Monday through Friday from 6am to 8pm, and on Saturdays from 10am to 8pm. A ride on Birmingham On-Demand costs only $1.50 and weekly and monthly passes are available for just $14 a week and $54 a month. Don’t have a credit card? You can use a prepaid debit card to book your rides!
