For a list of parking decks in the downtown area, check out this link: https://www.bhamparking.com/parking-locator/  Be sure to check the hours on the different map locators to see if that particular deck will be open on July 17. What are the details on ADA shuttle access for the World Games?

The best option for an ADA bus is to go to the World Games East Parking Lot at 5th Avenue South and 33rd Street South.  This is the Green Line.

Once at the lot, ask staff to call the ADA minibus shuttle. Again, spectators with ADA needs are strongly encouraged to park at the TWG East parking lot.

Call for pick up: 404-317-8311. For additional information, call: 205-829-1037.

All travelers should factor in traffic delays and wait time in reaching their final destination, so please leave at least an hour early before you need to reach your final destination.

From July 13 – 17, the ADA bus will drop off riders at the Hub, 22nd Street North and Rev. Abraham Woods Jr. Blvd.

Once at the Hub, those with ADA needs should go to the white tent on Rev. Abraham Woods Blvd and 23rd Street North to call for a golf cart to take them to World Games venues in the area.

While spectators are downtown, World Games spectators may catch golf cart rides in following areas:

  • 19th St N @ RAW Blvd – Boutwell Auditorium
  • 19th St N @ 9th Ave N – TWG Plaza/Citywalk

Please go here to see the maps and look for an arrow with “ADA parking” on it for each venue. It will show you where to park.

If spectators need ADA assistance once they are at a World Games facility to view a sport, they should ask staff on where to go.

If there are closed streets, how can I catch an Uber, Lyft, Birmingham On Demand (VIA) or a taxi to or out of City Walk or at Protective Stadium during World Games?

All Uber, Lyft, Birmingham on Demand (Via) and taxicab drivers can pick up and drop off World Games spectators at The Hub, which is located at the corner of Seventh Avenue North and 23rd Street North in downtown Birmingham. This lot, which is known as The Hub on the TWG Transit Line map, is being made available because downtown World Games venues such as Protective Stadium, the BJCC and City Walk are within a secure perimeter and no through traffic will be allowed. People with plans to visit City Walk, Boutwell Auditorium, the Sheraton Birmingham or the Westin Hotel should also take note of The Hub.

Ride share drivers will enter at 23rd Street North and Seventh Avenue North, going northbound on 23rd Street North. They need to turn left into the large lot, known as The Hub, to pick up a rider. Then, they need to exit the Hub, going southbound on 22nd Street North.

There will be signage identifying the Hub. There will be designated pick-up and drop-off spots for riders to catch their Uber ride. These pick-up spots will be numbered with Uber, Lyft, etc. on the signs. Riders should be sure to tell driver which numbered sign they are standing at when teh Uber, Lyft or Via driver comes to pick them up at the Hub. The Uber, Lyft or Via drivers need to know to be on the lookout for the numbered signs.

This is the ONLY ride share lot for City Walk, Uptown and Protective Stadium. Hotels like the Sheraton and the Westin are within the perimeter, and Uber, Lyft and taxicab drivers will NOT be able to get to the hotels. Again, they will need to use the ride share lot to pick up and drop off their customers.

The World Games Transit Line will also be available during the World Games. For locations to ride the line, which include Legion Field and Homewood, please visit www.twg2022.com/ride. For additional information on the World Games, visit www.birminghamal.gov/worldgamesfaq and www.twg2022.com.
