Homicide Update

To date, fifty-seven (57) chargeable Homicides have been reported in the City of Birmingham during 2010, compared to sixty-five (65) at this time in 2009.

Homicide #57: Was discovered on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at approximately 5:50 a.m. at Ishkooda-Wenonah Road and 22nd Street Southwest.

Officers from the West Precinct responded to the incident location to investigate a report of a person lying on the side of the road. Officers arrived and located the victim unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds. Birmingham Fire and Rescue pronounced the victim deceased on the scene. The investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released as it becomes available.

The victim’s identity will be released pending conformation and notification of next of kin. The victim appears to be a Hispanic male.
