Accident Investigation Arrest

The Birmingham Police Department reports that a suspect has been charged in connection with an accident investigation.  The accident occurred on Sunday, January 6, 2013, at Jefferson Avenue and 24th Street Southwest.

The first victim has been identified as:  Kayla Nicole Jackson, B/F, 21, of Birmingham, Alabama.

The second victim has been identified as:  Zion Milik Jackson, B/M, 3, of Birmingham, Alabama.

The suspect/driver has been identified as:  Brandon Levoy Davis, B/M, 21, of Birmingham, Alabama.  Two Manslaughter warrants with a $15,000.00 bond on each have been obtained against the suspect.

BPD Accident Reconstructionist responded to the incident location to investigate an accident. Officers located the victims and suspect suffering from injuries sustained during the accident.  The first victim (mother) was pronounced deceased on the scene.  The second victim (son) was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries, but was pronounced deceased upon arrival.  The suspect (father) was also transported to the hospital for treatment of his injury and later transported to the Jefferson County Jail.  Upon further investigation by accident reconstructionist, it was determined that excessive speed was the factor for the accident.
