Robbery Investigation Arrests

The Birmingham Police Department reports that two suspects are arrested and charged in connection with multiple robbery investigations.  The incident occurred on Sunday, October 27, 2013 on 41st street in the Avondale community.

Officers from the South Precinct responded to the incident location to investigate a call of a robbery. Officers arrived to find four victims who stated they were robbed as they left an Avondale nightclub.  The victims told officers that two suspects had forced them into an alley at gunpoint and took valuables before fleeing. There were no injuries during the robbery.

Upon further investigation, BPD Robbery detectives were able to identify the suspects as the persons responsible for the robbery of the victims.  Warrants were obtained for the suspects’ arrest and area law enforcement agencies were notified.

On Monday, November 18, 2013, the BPD Crime Reduction Team located the suspects at the USA Economy Lodge inside a stolen vehicle. The suspects were also in the possession of two firearms. The suspects were taken into custody without incident and are in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail.  The first suspect has been identified in an additional robbery case in the Avondale community.

The first suspect has been identified as: Brandon Hightower, B/M, 19, of Birmingham, Alabama. Five Robbery warrants have been obtained against the suspect.

The second suspect has been identified as: Demetric Ellis, B/M, 20, of Birmingham, Alabama. Four Robbery warrants have been obtained against the suspect.
