Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports that detectives are investigating a homicide.  The incident occurred on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at approximately 9:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of Laurel Avenue.

The victim has been identified as:  Cedric Dickson, B/M, 54, of Birmingham, Alabama.

Officers from the West Precinct responded to the incident location to investigate a report of a person shot.  Upon arrival, officers located the victim lying next to his vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  The victim was transported to U.A.B. Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

There have been no arrests or charges filed in the case.  Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
