Alabama Law Enforcement Torch Run

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports that detectives are conducting a homicide investigation at 4817 Avenue V., Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred on Monday, March 12, 2012 at approximately 10:30 p.m.

The victim has been identified as: DeMarcus Horton, B/M, 19, of Midfield, Alabama.

Officers from the West Precinct responded to the incident location to investigate a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived and pronounced one victim deceased. Birmingham Fire and Rescue transported the second victim to U.A.B. Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound. Officers located a third victim suffering from gunshot wounds approximately one block from the incident location. The third victim was also transported to U.A.B. Hospital for treatment.

There have been no arrests or charges filed in the case.  Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
