Alabama Law Enforcement Torch Run

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports today that detectives are investigating a homicide that was discovered on today, April 23, 2011, at approximately 4:35 p.m. in the 500 block of 10th Court West.

The victim has been identified as:  Murry Frank Jr., B/M, 34, of Birmingham, Alabama.

Officers from the West Precinct responded to the incident location to investigate a report of a vehicle accident.  Upon arrival, officers observed Birmingham Fire and Rescue working to remove a male victim trapped inside his vehicle.  The victim’s Toyota Tundra struck a utility pole and BFR personnel had to pry him from his vehicle.  The victim was transported to U.A.B. Hospital where it was discovered he also suffered a gunshot wound.  At approximately 6:30 a.m., the victim was pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries.
