Victim Issues Conference

The Birmingham Police Department reports that on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, a two day Victim Issues conference will begin at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.  The workshop is a collaborative effort between the Birmingham Police Department’s Project SAFE unit, U.S. Attorney’s Office, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, U.A.B. Police Department, Y.W.C.A., F.B.I. and Coordinated Community Response.  The workshop will provide informative sessions to enhance the understanding and involvement of law enforcement in domestic violence prevention and prosecution.  The workshop will cover a wide range of topics and provide information on reporting domestic violence and victim’s rights.

The workshop is scheduled to begin at 7:45 a.m. until 5p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. Representatives from all partnering agencies will be available for comment at 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2011.
