Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports today that detectives are investigating a homicide. The incident occurred on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at approximately 11:00 p.m. in the 4300 block of 10th Avenue, Wylam.

Officers from the West Precinct responded to the incident location to investigate a report of a person stabbed. Upon arrival, officers located the victim suffering from a stab wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and transported the victim to U.A.B. Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Officers received information that the victim and suspect were involved in an argument just before the stabbing. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene.

The victim’s identity will be released pending notification of family.

The suspect’s identity will be released pending completion of warrant procedures.
