Alabama Law Enforcement Torch Run

Unclassified Death Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports today that detectives are investigating a fatal shooting. The incident occurred on Friday, March 4, 2011 at approximately 11:50 p.m. at 616 5th Place Pratt City.

Officers from the West Precinct responded to the incident location to investigate a report of a person shot. Upon arrival officers located the victim lying inside the location suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. Officers also found that three bystanders suffered non life-threatening gunshot wounds. The injured bystanders were treated at the hospital and released. Investigators later received information that the victim’s injury was a result of an earlier dispute at the incident location. No suspects are in custody at this time.

The victim has been identified as:  Charles Gamble, B/M, 42, of Birmingham, Alabama.

Due to the evidence and information gathered at this time, the case classification remains unclassified.
