CRT Makes Multiple Arrests

The Birmingham Police Department reports that fifteen suspects have been arrested and charged in connection with gaming, narcotics and outstanding warrants.  The arrests took place on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 1001 3rd Avenue West.  Members of the BPD Crime Reduction Team attempted to take an attempted murder suspect into custody when he ran into a business being used for illegal gambling.  Officers pursued the suspect into the business and subsequently took him into custody with additional suspects that were engaged in gambling activity.

Officers seized over $3,500.00 and seven firearms, with three reported as stolen.  Officers also seized marijuana, cocaine Tussionex and Lortab pills.

Detectives are currently pursuing charges for Gaming, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substances, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and Violation of State Firearms Act. One suspect was arrested for an outstanding Attempted Murder warrant and another for an outstanding Robbery warrant.

All suspects are in the custody of the Birmingham City Jail.
