Robbery Investigation Arrest
On Thursday, November 3, 2011, North Precinct officers were called to the 2200 BLK of
7th Avenue North on a report of a robbery. The victim stated that he and his girlfriend were travelling from Huntsville
to Mississippi with $12,000 in cash to purchase a piece of heavy equipment for his brother who lives in Oklahoma. The victim stated that they
were stopped when two white male suspects approached and took the money at gunpoint. Both the responding officers and robbery detective were
suspicious and investigated further. Officers later learned that the reporting victim had filed a false report. After obtaining consent to search
from the passenger in the car, a plastic bag containing $11,700 was found with a receipt from the “reporting victim’s” bank indicating
a cashier’s check for $12,000 had been cashed in Huntsville. The passenger admitted that the “reporting victim” was going to keep
the money and tell the police he was robbed. As a result the reporting victim was arrested.
The suspect has been identified as: Francis Crayner, B/M 46, of Huntsville, Alabama. A Theft of Property first degree
warrant with a $30,000.00 bond has been obtained against the suspect. A Filing False Report warrant has also been obtained against the
The suspect is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail.
