Alabama Law Enforcement Torch Run

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports that detectives are investigating a homicide. The incident occurred on Friday, August 19, 2011, at approximately 12:10 a.m. West Precinct officers responded to the 2400 block of Snavely Avenue Southwest to investigate a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim was transported to Princeton Hospital by private vehicle. Witnesses say the victim was last seen walking in the alley near the incident location just before they heard gunshots. Witnesses later located the victim lying in a vacant lot suffering from gunshot wounds. Hospital staff pronounced the victim deceased shortly after arrival.

The victim has been identified as: Jerell Quantay White, B/M, 17, of Birmingham, Alabama.

No arrests or charges have been filed in this case.
