Death Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports that detectives are seeking additional information on a death investigation. The investigation began on Tuesday, June 16, 2011, at approximately 11:45 a.m. at 321 3rd Avenue Southwest.

Officers from the South Precinct responded to the incident location to investigate a report of a deceased person. Officers arrived to find the victim inside the residence deceased. The victim was transported to the Jefferson County Coroner’s office for examination.

Officers learned that a concerned neighbor and resident manager became concerned when they hadn’t seen the victim and her mail hadn’t been retrieved. Both subjects checked the victim’s residence and located the victim before calling police.

Due to the physical condition of the victim’s decomposed body, medical examiners have been unable to confirm the victim’s identity or locate family members. The evidence collected at the scene and report received form the coroner’s office does not suggest any foul play in the death investigation.

Investigators are seeking family members of the registered renter of the apartment. The registered renter is Cheredie Marcian Olivia Hopson, B/F, 37.

If there is anyone who has information pertaining to the case, they are encouraged to contact the B.P.D. Homicide Unit at 254-1764 or Crime Stopper @ 254-7777.
