Victim:  Scott Bernstein,  W/M
Date of Incident:  11/04/2007
Location:  Cotton Avenue in Southwest Birmingham
Subject:  Homicide Investigation

It was on a Sunday morning.  There was a nearby church in service at that time.  He had gone to the church.  He was fatally shot inside his car as he sat along Cotton Avenue in Southwest Birmingham.

Anthony Nelson Victim:  Anthony Nelson,  B/M, DOB - 06/01/1962
Age at Death:  24
Date of Incident:  10/08/1986
Location:  1300 block of 16th Street North
Subject:  Homicide Investigation

On October 8, 1986,  Anthony Nelson was  shot in his car while driving in the 1300 block of 16th St. (Fountain Heights).  He was taken to a local  hospital but died shortly after arriving.  The investigation suggests a female may have been in the car at the time of the shooting.

Jamyilah & Mikylah Mays Victim:  Mikylah Mays,  B/F DOB - 02/09/07
Age at Death:  3 months
Date of Incident:  05/24/07
Location:  6725 1st Avenue South
Subject:  Homicide Investigation

Mikylah, along with her twin sister, Jamyilah, were at home with their parents,  Joycelyn Smith and Michael Mays Jr.  Around 06:30 am, Ms. Smith was awaken by Mr. Mays to the alarming fact that  Mikylah was not breathing.  Both of the children were taken to Children’s Hospital where Mikylah was pronounced dead.  Mikylah and Jamyilah had both been beaten and suffered from blount force trauma to their heads and bodies.  Both parents have been questioned regarding the death of Mikylah and the attempted murder of Jamyilah.
