Birmingham Municipal Court

Birmingham Municipal Court is the judicial branch of the City and adjudicates all ordinance violations and misdemeanors within the City’s limit and police jurisdiction. We strive to:

2. Consistently RESPOND to all citizens
3. Compassionately REDUCE recidivism

We are located on the corner of Rev. Abraham Woods Boulevard and 17th Street North. We provide a limited amount of parking. You will need to purchase a token to exit our parking lot. Additional metered parking is available on 17th and 18th streets.

The Municipal Court is comprised of four courts and nine specialized courts: Misdemeanor Court, Presiding Court, Traffic Court and David Barnes’ South Court. Specialized courts are: Adult Drug Treatment Court, Environmental Court, Court Referral Program, Gun Court, Domestic Violence Court, Driving While Intoxicated Court (DWI), Veterans Treatment Court, Bilingual Court, Turning Point Court and HOPE Court  See Specialty Courts for more information about each program.

The Municipal Court has nine divisions: Judges, Administration, CRO/Probation Services, Court Security Services, Post-Trial Services, Financial Services, Magistrate/Court Operation Services, Information Services and Pre-Trial Services Divisions.
