During the Tuesday, September 02, 2008, Birmingham City Council meeting, Council:

1. Offered a resolution supporting the mayor in authorizing a substitute day off for City of Birmingham employees in light of working the Labor Day weekend and city-recognized holiday on Monday.  City of Birmingham employees assisted over 3,000 evacuees at multiple venues.  “Thank you for allowing us to come, it was a good job,” said an evacuee addressing Council.    

2. Council and Mayor Langford will meet during Administration, Budget and Finance Committee meeting Thursday, September 04, 2008.  “The Mayor has some special items he would like our input on,” said Council President Carole Smitherman.  For more information contact President Smitherman at 205.254.2358.
