Get Alarmed! Birmingham Attention Parents and Teachers:

One of the primary goals of the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service Department's Get Alarmed Birmingham campaign is to educate of City's youth regarding fire safety and the importance of smoke alarms as a means of protecting themselves and their families from fire.

As part of this educational process, the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service Department has developed and continues to distribute a 24-page, bi-lingual Get Alarmed Birmingham Coloring Book to school age children in Birmingham. This coloring book is fun and easy to use and can help to save lives. The book is filled with fire safety-related games, puzzles, and drawings, designed to educate our children.

Additionally, the Get Alarmed Birmingham Coloring Book introduces the "Fire Safety Kid" Visit our Fire Safety Kid section of this web site to download the Get Alarmed Birmingham Coloring Book and the "Fire Safety Kid" test. Encourage your children and students to be "Fire Safety Kids" so they can help others practice good fire safety.

An interactive fire safety CDROM packed with fun ways to learn fire safety is also available as part of Get Alarmed Birmingham's ongoing educational effort. This CDROM is distributed by the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service Department to school age children within our City's and can be downloaded from the Fire Safety Kid section of this site.

Parents: Smaller children will need help with the web site and the tools available. Please assist your children in utilizing this site and the other tools available so that they can become more aware of the proper use of smoke detectors and fire safety.
