The City of Birmingham announced Friday that Fiscal Year 2015 ended with a $13 Million surplus. The surplus was higher than anticipated and rolls into the general fund balance.

“We have charged our department heads and staff to do more with less and to run government as efficiently as possible. It is an ongoing process to see how we can operate in new and innovative ways that save resources and maintain the financial stability of the City on a continuous basis. While others Cities’ have struggled to maintain services, the City of Birmingham has been fortunate to maintain exemplary credit ratings and a strong fund balance,” said Mayor William Bell.

Fiscal Year 2015 ended June 30, 2015.
